No rest for me.

Past few weeks have been crazy.

First there was hen party for my best friend.  After months of planning it was finally time for her special day - or in this case, weekend. On Friday morning I flew to Finland and surprised her by showing up. We had prepared different tasks for her and of course she passed all of them! Next day we had amazing brunch, sauna and partying in the nightlife of Lahti. The bride seemed to enjoy every moment and I believe she had the kind of party she wanted.

Next weekend Kalle came to Poland. We partied with my colleagues, adventured around Gdansk and enjoyed each other. We ate really well, went to festival and I shared my world with him, just like I always to do. He was here over a week and time just flew by.

Three days normal week days and then my mom came here. Whole weekend seeing different things, walking and taking Ubers everywhere. Colorfestival, Old Town and Sopot. Villa Vrest and amazing food. Shopping and talking, enjoying the mother-daughter-time.

Soon it was also over and now I have four days to rest before next big adventure.

Why do I want to leave Finland?

Esimieheni kysyi minulta viime viikon lauantaina miksi vihaat Suomea?

Kulttuuri. Erilaiset kulttuurit kiehtovat minua. Jokaisessa kulttuurissa on omat piirteensä ja salaisuutensa. Samaan aikaan kuitenkin monet asiat ovat samanlaisia. Se on todella kutkuttavaa. Paras tapa todella tutustua kulttuuriin on asua kyseisessä maassa.

Itsensä haastaminen. Uuteen paikkaan muuttaminen, uusien ihmisten tapaaminen,  uusien tapojen oppiminen. Haluan nähdä, kuinka reagoin eri tilanteisiin, haastaa itseni hyppäämään tuntemattomaan.

Muutos. Ainoa, mikä säilyy, on muutos.

My manager asked me last week's Saturday why do you hate Finland. Well, I don't hate Finland, I just want to live outside of it. But why? I had never actually thought the reasons why I want to go abroad so badly. So I started to wonder it.

Weather. I like the warmth. I want to live somewhere where it is warmer than Finland, even a little bit. 9 months of winter is too much for me, so if I get a change I run from it.

Experience. I want to experience more, I want to feel alive and staying in the same place limits you. Travelling gives you options, new perspective and helps you develop yourself.

Culture. I find different cultures interesting and the best way t really get known one is to live in that country. Every culture has their own characteristic and secrets and at the same time many things are same. It tickles me.

Challenging myself. Moving to a new place, meeting new people, learning new habits. I want to see how I react to different situations. I challenge myself to take the leap.

Change. Only change is sure. I used to fight it but nowadays I respect and honor it. Everything happens for a reason and every single change guides me somewhere new and exciting.

All of this makes me desire more. It fires me up and pushs me away from Finland. This point I have been travelling around Europe, studied in South-Korea and now doing my intership in Poland. Let's see what happens next.

In one month..

In one month I have learnt..

how to create tickets.
how to categorize different tickets.
how to prioritize tickets.
how to use BMC Remedy IT Service Management (Aqua).
how to take remote control with Bomgar.
how to find information about the users, computer, servers - well, basically everything.

In one month I have..

started to get Clarity calls.
learnt whom to ask what.
learnt where to find more information.
enjoyed the cheap food.
experienced my first food poisoning.
had my first sick leave because of it.

In one month I have..

been partying in Sopot.
enjoyed the beach.
visited Warsaw.
started yoga.
tried bouldering.
met so many new people
and made new friends.

In one month I have done so much, yet so little.

Week 4

Töiden lisäksi liikunta on yhä pysynyt mukana. Boulderointia ja joogaa. Hämmästyin viime viikolla, kun tajusin joogalla oikeasti olevan vaikutusta. Selkäni on notkistunut huomattavasti ja kiinnitän enemmän huomiota asentoihini. En olisi uskonut näin nopeasti mitään muutosta.

Kuukaudessa ehtii tapahtua paljon. Jännittävää. Uskomatonta. Mielenkiintoista. Hurmaavaa.

Exciting week behind! Everything feels exciting, inspiring and stunning. People keep saying you will get bored as soon as everything isn't new anymore but I don't believe it. I have heard it so many times when I started at grosery store and after 6 years I still find it exciting.

We get more and more responsibilities and damn - it feels good. No one expected us to start taking call after three weeks but last Tuesday it happened. The first calls from Clarity were forwarded to us!

Most of the calls are easy tasks, like unlocking user's account or instructing the user to restart the computer. Some of them need more attention but so far everyone of them has been solvable. Ticket categorization starts to make sense, I have started to realize what to do first in different tickets and the whole process starts to form into my mind.

Besides work I have continued exercising: bouldering and yoga. Last week I was surprised when I noticed yoga has some effect already. My back is more limber and I pay more attention to my posture.

In four week many things can happen. Exciting. Unbeliavable. Interesting. Fascinating. I can't find the words. I think it is impossible to find right words because I'm still too close to all of this.

Different things in Poland. Part 2.

Part 1
5. Drivers give you a way
... even better than in Finland. I have spent most of my life in Finland where it's quite save to cross the street. So it shouldn't be a surprise for me if drivers are polite. But geez, here you don't have to think can you cross the street in the crosswalk because everyone stops. Right away. You just need to walk. And it is awesome.

6. Traffic light are extremely fast.
Seriously. It is almost impossible to cross the street with green light. You need to run if you don't want to wait another green.

7. Light switches are wrong way.
At least at our home. No one believes me and I'm the only one who gets annoyed by it, but I'm sure that in all the houses I have lived in Finland the light is off when the switch is down. Here it's on. You can imagine how many times I have forgotten to turn off the lights..

8. Windows open two ways.
This is apparently normal in many European countries but for me it is the first time to actually realize it. All of our windows can be opened both vertically and horizontally. I have never seen it in Finland. But again, this might be only our house.
